John C. Post is an employment attorney with extensive experience in both employment litigation and advice work. He can provide your business with the quality advice and counsel you would expect from a large firm, but with highly individualized attention and at a reasonable price. Mr. Post has worked for two of the most prominent employment law firms in the country--Paul Hastings and Littler Mendelson. He also graduated with honors from the Cornell Law School.
During his eight years as an associate, Mr. Post represented employers in all aspects of employment law, including contract negotiations, discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour matters. Mr. Post also provided day-to-day advice to employers on issues including wage and hour matters (such as exempt status issues, missed meal and rest periods, off-the-clock claims, etc.), leaves of absence, and accommodation of disabilities.
He has advised clients about federal and state employment laws that affect the employment relationship, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other state and federal statutes. Mr. Post has drafted employee handbooks and personnel policies, as well as independent contrator agreements, settlement agreements, and other documents for clients.
Mr. Post has appeared before the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commision, the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. He has also appeared and litigated cases in numerous matters before both state and federal courts throughout California. Mr. Post is a member of the California State Bar, the American Bar Association, and of the California Employment Lawyers Association.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Post was a graduate student at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Michigan. His studies focused on International Relations and the Middle East. Mr. Post is also a veteran. He served four years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst and Arabic language specialist.
Mr. Post graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in 1992 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Japanese.
